I'm so fickle

Currently Listening
Oh! Gravity.

I'm so quick to criticize and dismiss.

I just bought the new switchfoot album. I'd have to say I did not have high hopes for the album. It's different, but it's really good. Jon is just a great lyricist, that's all there is to it. I like the vibe of the album. I've determined that I still hold their first two albums way above anything else they've done...but that probably has more to do with the point in my life where I was discovering the richness of music and they gave me something that was different from what I had been exposed to (which wasn't much at that point in my life).

Although time will have to tell with this one. I told a friend recently that as much as I was dissapointed with their last album I would still buy this next one and be excited about it...but it would probably find it's way to the bottom of the cd pile after a few weeks. We shall see.

You may consider yourself quick to dismiss; and yet you're open to the "different." Some perspective: I'm encouraged by the openness to different styles of music I see among younger (very relative term)      believers. There's a "richness of music" (good word) and lyrics that can get missed only b/c of our getting stuck with our comfort zone. I desperately do not want to become "set in my ways" concerning music. However, that doesn't mean there aren't those CD's I tend to play over and over...      sometimes, I can't clearly share with someone why I love one of those so much. I continue to wonder about music after we meet our LORD...   om

hmm... i'm interested to hear your thoughts. i haven't listened to either of the last 2 albums...how do you feel about burning cds these days?! while i was home i heard 2 switchfoot songs on the radio at the mall & i went to jazzercise (with my mom!) & we did a weight lifting routine to a switchfoot song ( i think "stars") all in one day. weird.
i lost 'the legend of chin' somewhere in my move from upland to alaska 3 years ago, but i've been really wanting to listen to concrete girl & don't be there lately. such lovely & nostalgic songs!
