My First Sermon

It's even better the second time around!

In regards to your response to my question:  Do you think that the point of the James reference is to 1) point out the fact that sin is not only doing "bad" things, but not doing "good" things, or 2) tell us that we don't have the ability to do good things?  From my perspective, I see it saying that we have the capability to see the good and choose to do the good.  It is a choice and if we have the right to choose, we have the ability to pick the best option, whether we do or not. 

I never meant to imply that living a sinless life would be humanly possible, or easy (by any stretch of the imagination)!  It has to be through the power of God, which means we could do anything He wanted, right?  Does that include the pursuit of holiness?
